A Solid, Stable Router: Reviews NETGEAR N750 Dual Band Wi-Fi Gigabit Router

I've owned this NETGEAR N750 Dual Band Wi-Fi Gigabit Router for over a year now and I'm reasonably happy with it for what it does. It's fast enough for my internet connection (25/25 Mbps) and easily supports the over a dozen devices we own.

I'm really nitpicking here. When I got it up and running, the router ran smoothly and was stable. Aesthetically, the router looks pretty nice; about the size and shape of a book and can sit flat somewhere or it has a stand to set it upright, but the stand seems a little awkward. The status lights are pretty bright, so you might not want it somewhere where you sleep lest it keeps you awake at night.
  • Faster WiFi Speed – N750 Dual Band WiFi delivers 450 + 450Mbps for combined wireless speeds up to 750Mbps
  • Gigabit Wired – Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports are ideal for HD gaming & video & ultra-, high-speed wired networking

  • Advanced QoS – Optimized for smooth HD streaming & gaming
  • DLNA Media Server – Find & play your media on DLNA TVs & game consoles
  • ReadySHARE USB Access – Wirelessly access & share USB hard drives
  • ReadySHARE Printer – Wirelessly access & share a USB printer

Having a dual band WiFi radio is great, and it's range covers the whole 4 bedroom ranch home and then some, even when not centrally located. I really like the web filtering feature of the firmware which has been effective as a "last line of defense" to protect the children from accidentally tripping over adult material.

So, this is a good router, in my opinion. This is why:
  • Super easy to set up. Instructions were easy to follow and it did most everything on its own.
  • Connection to multiple devices: my printer, the Wii, three computers, my iPad, etc. was quick and easy.
  • I'm in a condo and have had no performance issues anywhere within the condo, or outside. I can actually get my wireless in my car out front.
  • Haven't had to unplug, wait 10 seconds, replug due to it not working. (This is probably the greatest thing about a router working)
  • Everything seems to be working very quickly. I've been able to stream from Netflix from several different computers, my iPad, and my Wii without any problems.
  • Even with power outages, it has not made me do anything to reset it. It just pops back on with the power and everything runs fine.
If you are considering an upgrade and are price conscious about it but don't want to settle for another crappy router that frustrates you with a day long set up, this NETGEAR N750 Dual Band Wi-Fi Gigabit Router is the first and probably will be the last thing you try.

This NETGEAR N750 Dual Band Wi-Fi Gigabit Router (WNDR4300) product earned 484 customer reviews and 76% are satisfied (as 13/01/2014). My PS3 download speed wireless improved more than half also went from 3.1 Mbps to 7.7 Mbps streaming HD with no problems at all. I am very happy with the purchase.

It has a nice light display giving you plenty of status info by just glancing at it.
